Lyrics (Lucky Seven)

Party At The Weekend

How beautiful the streets,
How wonderful the town,
I’m feeling so enlightened,
I stand on hollow ground,
The promenade is madness;
Amusements looking tired,
But when you put your boots on,
And your head is getting wired:

Lo behold, the crowds are getting happier,
Here today, in the streets of rage,
Drink and smile, cos you don’t have to marry her,
Inhale, enjoy this for a while.
There’s a party at the weekend
How thrilling are the clubs?
How marvellous the sound,
The DJ has good taste,
See the people getting down.
There’s fighting on the streets,
And rubbish blowing past,
But when you paint the town,
The colour really lasts,
No one cares – let your inner monkey out,
Be a saint, or a sinner too,
Drink and smile, ‘cos they don’t have to marry you,
Escape, enjoy it for a while
There’s a party at the weekend
Hey baby won’t you dance with me tonight? I like your attitude.
Hey baby hold my hand you’ll be alright.
I’m only a man, I haven’t got plans, I’m loving this town,
Let’s keep it Rhyl and get on down.

Christmas Song (You Cry Too Much)

We’ll go to the grotto this Christmas
The magic and wonder will surround us
The spirit is there to be taken
So just embrace it and then you’ll awaken

It is easy to be like Mister Scrooge
Even then, in the end, his heart melted too
It’s a money ride, that I can’t deny
But the smiles lift you up and they take you high

You know you cry too much, yeah you cry too much
But at Christmas it’s right if you smile too much
Throw your problems away and get onto the sleigh
Now baby don’t you cry too much

As we wait in the queue to see Santa
You behave like you’re gonna see a phantom
With your head in my chest all ashiver
Now Baby please don’t you cry me a river

Though his clothes are red and his beard is white
And his belly is big and his eyes are bright
It is strange to see when you’re only 3
But the gifts that he gives make us all believe

You know you cry too much, yeah you cry too much
But at Christmas it’s right if you smile too much
Throw your problems away and get onto the sleigh
Now baby don’t you cry too much

Instrumental

You know you cry too much, yeah you cry too much
But at Christmas it’s right if you smile too much
Throw your problems away and get onto the sleigh
Now baby don’t you cry too much
Now baby don’t you cry too much
Now baby don’t you cry too much
Now baby don’t you cry too much

You put the fire in my soul

I was a sailor and you were the sea
You carried me off to an island of dreams
And I’m thankful
You put the fire in my soul

I was a loser and you were the cards
You dealt on me favourably, gave me a start
And I’m lucky
You put the fire in my soul

Now we are one,
We’ll strike up a blaze that can match the sun
The blues on a Monday, that last until Sunday are gone

We’ve opened our ears to a beautiful sound
The familiar streets of forgotten old towns
Become special
You put the fire in my soul

Hidden away at the brow of the hill
A spectrum of colour, a cup to be filled
And it’s simple,
You put the fire in my soul

Now we have won,
We’ll strike up a blaze that can match the sun
The blues on a Monday, that last until Sunday are gone.

Turn the ignition
And put the fire in my soul
Sweet inhibition
You put the fire in my soul

Instrumental

Now is the time,
For the brightest of stars to be yours and mine
The fields and the fountains, the rivers and mountains, our world

You put the fire in my soul (repeat to fade)

Don’t Need Any Friends

I’m not gonna give them away
These thoughts that I got in my brain
Sometimes it’s better to keep it locked inside
Why ask if you’re going to judge?
Can’t help if I’m baring a grudge
Don’t keep on bringing it up ‘cause I am bored

That’s why I don’t need any friends
It’s the only way I can protect myself
They always leave you in the end
It’s a lot of time to waste if you invest in their lives

Went out on a Saturday night
Punch drunk like I’d been in a fight
There’s nothing better to do around this place
Act like you ain’t seen me before
And it’s driving me up the wall
One day I’m going to make you feel the same

Chorus x 2

False Messiah

Hanging out with a false messiah
He asked me to give him a shoe shine, shoe shine
Said I would but I’m just too lazy
And that’s not what I do
When he asked me to pick a winner
I just told him no and he said fine, said fine
Then I said he should choose a sinner
So he turned around to me
And said through gritted teeth
That everyone can see

You’re the one can you hear what I am saying?
Yeah, you’re the one can you hear what I am saying baby?

If you see him the false messiah
He might take you out for a good time, good time
In the morning you’ll feel much brighter
Just like it’s meant to be
When he asked me to pick a winner
I just told him no and he said fine, said fine
Then I said he should choose a sinner
So he turned around to me
And said through gritted teeth
That everyone can see

Chorus x 2

Instrumental

Chorus x 2

You’re the one, you’re the one x 4

Glory and Blame

You don’t care what you’re saying
And you expect it to be fine
But that ain’t right
And when I ask you something
You roll your eyes and look away
Like that’s ok

You take the glory
I’ll take the blame
Sometimes I wonder what is
Happening in your brain
But then I realise we’re the same

You don’t know what you’re doing
But you just do it anyway
While others pay
Don’t hide there in the shadows
I’ll help you carry all that shame
We’ll find a way

You take the glory
I’ll take the blame
Sometimes I wonder what is
Happening in your brain
But then I realise we’re the same

Instrumental

You take the glory
I’ll take the blame
Sometimes I wonder what is
Happening in your brain
But then I realise we’re the same
We’re the same
We’re the same
We’re the same

Just Like Blood

I’m going to take you and I’ll wrap you up in wool
You won’t be no one’s fool anymore
And if I pick you up I’ll do it with kid gloves
I’ll treat you like a sibling just like blood

Down by the river where I live
There is a place I’d like to show you
It’s just a flood plain filled with wood
But it is somewhere we can go to on our own

Chorus

I hear you’ve had it pretty hard
And yet the world it cannot break you
I think you’re stronger than you know
But I will be there and I’ll lend you my support

Chorus

Instrumental

Chorus

Just like blood
Just like blood
Just like blood

No one listens to the radio

Here’s a song that i just wrote
it won’t get played on the radio
Here’s a song that i just wrote
it won’t get played on the radio
My facebook friends don’t rate it
my local dj hates it
But that don’t really matter
’cause no one listens to the radio

Here’s a song that i just wrote
it won’t get played on mtv
Here’s a song that i just wrote
it won’t get played on mtv
’cause it’s not very modern
There’s far too many guitars
but that don’t really matter
’cause they don’t play music on mtv

Instrumental

And no one really likes it
everybody hates it
But that don’t really matter
’cause no one listens to the radio

Here’s a song that i just wrote
it won’t get played on spotify
Here’s a song that i just wrote
it won’t get played on spotify
’cause it is just a rip off
And frankly it is rubbish
but that don’t really matter
’cause you don’t get paid on spotify
And no one listens to the radio

And no one really likes it
everybody hates it
But that don’t really matter
’cause no one listens to the radio
No one listens to the radio

No one listens to the radio x 4

Keyboard Warriors

This wild circus that the media creates
It’s been designed to polarize and dominate
Sometimes I wonder if we will ever be
Free from their influence to be who we want to be
They flog democracy the kind that money buys
Then undermine it with a plethora of lies
I hope there’s someone out there who feels the same
I’ve got to bite my tongue while they manipulate
With their superficial games

But no one seems to care
They’re too busy staring at their screens
Docile and pretending it’s alright
As long as they win the keyboard fight

They use technology to tell you how to think
It’s just a billboard so that they can sell you things
It’s so depressing to desire what you don’t need
Until you realise your mind cannot be free
While you’re drowning in that stream

Chorus

Instrumental

Chorus

They’re my friends

Set them free and let them wander
they want to chew the bedroom door
Think i might lose my deposit
but that don’t matter anyhow

See the joy that they are bringing
though they won’t let me get near (i’ll keep trying)
All the trouble they’ve been causing
wouldn’t change the way i feel ’cause they’re my friends

Now they’re stamping in excitement
’cause they fooled me once again
But i know where they are hiding
and i’ll find them in the end

Chorus – same except sing i’m still trying for backing vocals

Instrumental

Chorus – same except sing i’m done trying for backing vocals and for last line sing the way i feel twice

Speakers Start to Shake

I’d like to take you out
To the place where all the people want to go
That feeling you cannot hide
Our time has come so just enjoy the ride

‘Cause when the speakers start to shake
The speakers start to shake
All the kids are throwing shapes
When the speakers start to shake
The speakers start to shake
And your ear drums start to ache
When the speakers start to shake
With that sound

I live for the weekend
When I can hear that music once again
They try to put us down
But no one here can tell us what to do

Chorus

Instrumental

Chorus x 2
